11 Habits For Perfect Hair
Perfect hair starts with great haircare.
From multivitamins to throwing out your comb, everyone with gorgeous hair swears by these tips!
1. Use Shampoo For The Hair You WANT, Not The Hair You HAVE

For the longest time I kept on using shampoo for dry hair and, guess what? My hair never got any better. So, instead of using shampoo for the hair I had, I started using shampoo for the hair I wanted. I switched over to shampoo for fine hair and since then, my locks have never been tamer, shinier and, dare I say, healthier.
2. Now That You Have Your Shampoo, Use it SPARINGLY
With perfect hair like that, you KNOW he’s not washing it everyday.

The more you wash your hair, the more you strip it of its natural oils. It’s the same principle as over-washing your face. Some oil is good and keeps your hair from splitting and drying out. So, instead of washing your locks every day, try doing it 2-3x/week. You can still wash your body, just protect that hair!
3. Invest In A Hair Mask
eSalon wasn’t kidding when they said this mask is nourishing. Boy, does it NOURISH.

Hair masks aren’t a luxury, they’re a MUST. Hair masks and conditioners aren’t the same; masks are highly-concentrated and not only moisturize the hair, but provide deep hydration and nourishment to your strands. The result? Ridiculously baby-soft hair. The hair mask I’m in love with right now is eSalon’s Deeply Invested Nourishing Hair Mask. After the first use, this mask tamed my flyaways, provided some serious sheen and nourished my strands like no other.
4. Go The Extra Step – Put Leave-In Conditioner In Your Hair
Give your hair some love with a leave-in conditioner.
What your hair looks like when it dries all depends on how you treated it when it was wet. Not only do I do weekly hair masks, I ALWAYS put leave-in conditioner after I towel-dry my hair. It’s not an unnecessary step, leave-in is essential to taming your hair and treating split ends. I recommend using eSalon’s Perfect Ending Leave-In Conditioner.
5. Switch Up Your Products
When your hair stops working, show it who’s boss and kick it to the curb.
The worst has been confirmed, beauties! Shampoo does “stop working” after a while. So if you notice your hair becoming greasier or losing volume, it’s time to switch up the shampoo and conditioner you’re using.
6. Cut It More Often
Trim your ends regularly for healthy, shiny hair.
For those looking to grow their hair out, this can seem counter-intuitive, but trust me when I say that the more you trim your ends, especially if they’ve split and frayed, the faster your hair will grow.
7. Protect Your Hair From Heat
Prep your hair before styling with a heat protectant spray.

Blow-drying, straightening and curling our hair with styling tools has become commonplace, and while there’s nothing wrong with doing it, it’s imperative that you protect your hair with a thermal mist or serum. Thermal serums provide a barrier that protects your strands from the damaging effects of heat. If you style your hair with a heating tool on a daily basis, protect your hair first!
8. Color Your Hair Sparingly
Hair dyes are full of chemicals! Love your hair and you’ll love yourself.
Unfortunately, hair dyes are formulated with chemicals that only dry out and damage your hair. This is especially the case with bleach (but I didn’t have to tell you that, did I?) So, if you can, avoid coloring your hair often, if at all. Your natural hair color is beautiful as it is!
9. Let Your Hair Air Dry
Don’t dry your hair with a blow dryer unless you have to! Treat it as gently as possible.
If you already style your hair with a heating tool, let it air dry first. This will minimize the number of times you use a straightener/blowdryer/etc. and will keep your hair healthy and shiny.
10. Change Your Part, Change Your Style
Variety is the spice of life and your hair is no exception!

If you part your hair in the same place, the part can widen! A similar principle happens with your ponytail. To avoid breakage, hair loss and widening, switch up where you part your hair and the height of your ponytail.
11. Eat Healthy & Take Multivitamins
Beautiful hair starts with great health – treat yourself right and eat healthy.
This is the most important habit to cultivate for gorgeous hair. In order to have naturally beautiful hair (and skin) it is important you eat lots of organic produce, grains and unprocessed food. Stay away from refined sugars, white flour and caffeine (if you can’t quit caffeine cold turkey, at least limit your intake). Find out what the top vitamins for gorgeous, long hair are here.
